Editorial standards

These standards apply to every note on Family Office Primer.

Sources. Every number, survey finding and quotation is taken from a primary source we have read, and the source is linked in the sentence where the figure appears. We prefer the original report over coverage of it. We do not cite Wikipedia, content farms or anonymous blogs. Where two reputable surveys disagree, we show both and explain the difference in sample or definition rather than picking the convenient one.

Dates. Survey figures are stated with the year of the survey. Market data is stated with its as-of date. Each note shows its publication date and, when changed, its last update.

Neutrality. The publication does not recommend providers, products or strategies. Firms are named as sources or as examples of a structure. Comparative pieces include the drawbacks of each option.

Independence and the publisher. Family Office Primer is published and funded by Nodem Capital, a lender to family offices and fund managers. Nodem has no approval right over notes outside its own field. Notes that discuss portfolio lending or related products are written under the founder’s byline, carry a disclosure line, and link to competing or neutral sources where they exist. No note is written to promote a Nodem product, and no provider pays for coverage.

Advice. Nothing here is investment, legal or tax advice. Rules differ by jurisdiction and change often; readers should take advice on their own position.

Use of AI. Research assistance and drafting tools are used in preparing notes. Every note is edited by a person, every source is checked against the original document, and the editor is responsible for the content.

Corrections. Errors are corrected in the note with a dated correction line. Write to editor@familyofficeprimer.com.
